Hello Sour Friends!
2009 has been quite an adventurous year! I’ve been through so much and have learned alot, so I am truly thankful for all that I’ve been given. I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2010. Bring it.

Sweet & Sour has had a tremendous year. We are currently being sold in 7 stores throughout the U.S. Some of the more recent stores are: www.grumpybert.com and www.craftlandshow.com. We have also appeared in two issues of Stuffed Magazine. Yes, things have been busy. Not to mention the awesome shows we did this year: Renegade S.F. , Unique L.A. and Craftland! Thank you to everyone for your support!
Some of you may already know that I will be taking a TEMPORARY break in the month of January to get ready for the arrival of my “sweet & sour” bundle due in March!! But no need to worry, I’ve been working on new projects for 2010 which I will unveil upon my return.
In the meantime, keep supporting plush art and independent businesses!!
Happy New Year!!

Hey Sour Friends!
ALOT has happened in the last few months and I definitely have my hands full. I’ll have to reveal why I’m so busy at a later date, but for now I would just like to update you with some show info.
My goal this year was to participate in fewer shows at the end of the year and focus more on marketing. So Sweet & Sour Goodies will be at Craftland in Rhode Island (the entire month of December) and we will be at Unique L.A. December 5th and 6th from 11-6. I hope you can make it to one of these events.
Since the holidays are quickly approaching I am now taking holiday orders. I’ve received alot of questions about ornaments and the following ornaments I will be selling are the Ninja, the Nun and New Sour Matryoshka ornaments. I will only be making a limited amount of each style, so place your order today
See you soon!

I know that my posts have been non-existent lately, but alot has been going on and I have alot of news to catch you up on. For now, check this out!
Great news!! Sweet & Sour Goodies will be participating in Craftland this year.
“Craftland is an annual retail craft show in a unique consignment store format in downcity Providence, RI. The shop has featured eclectic arts and crafts from artists near and far (Australia!). Participants are selected through a jurying process. Started in 2002 by a couple of crafty friends, Craftland originally hosted the work of about 50 artists in a 600 square foot space and has grown to feature over 150 artists in 2500 square feet. ”
We are so excited to be a part of this amazing event. It is Craftland’s 8th year of Awesomeness. Craftland Show will take place December 4th - 31st this year! Start making arrangements so that you can purchase tons of unique handmade crafts by many talented artists and yours truly!
I am currently working on inventory for Craftland and other holiday events in December. So keep checking back for all your Sweet & Sour news.

Here are some photos of a wood cutout idea I decided to do for my booth at the Renegade Craft Fair in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. I wanted to use images of a few of my most popular Sweet & Sour Goodies, the Gnome and the Ninja. I thought that this would be a good way to attract people to the booth and boy, did it work! The response to the Gnome cutout was pretty awesome! People had fun with it which made me smile.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough space to display the Ninja too, but maybe for the next show.
Step 1: Create a pattern. I used newspaper to create the huge Gnome and Ninja pattern. After creating the pattern I traced it onto the wood slab.
Step 2: My wonderful husband Craig then cut out the large pieces and sanded down the rough edges. The cutouts measure at about 4 1/2 feet tall.
Step 3: The painting step. This took a couple of days since each section needed to be painted separately to prevent any colors from bleeding together.

Step 4: Cut out the face insert pieces and sand down any remaining rough edges. Craig also made little removable stands for each cutout.
Step 5: The last thing I did was make a GIANT fleece belt for the Gnome. You can see it in the last few pictures.

Step 6: Have fun! And take lots of photos! I’m going to use these cutouts at all of my craft shows and maybe even for holidays when I have my family come over

A special “thank you” to Craig for being the Master Craftsman!

The Renegade Craft fair was a wonderful event! Lots of people, lots of happy faces and lots of laughs. The Panda and I had such a great time. We met many sweet people and saw friends from past events.
Prepping for a big show always gets me a bit exhausted so I need a full week to recover from this shopping extravaganza. I’ll have a few more posts on the items that I purchased from my fellow crafters. For now, here are some pix of our set up.
The photos above are of some of the new Luchador designs. I decided to revamp the style a bit and make them even better than before.
Above was a cute photo I took of these two brothers taking a picture in our very popular Gnome cutout. I had this idea to make an interactive cutout that would catch people’s attention as they walked by our booth. The response was great and the Gnome cutout got alot of use. (I’ll post a little tutorial on how we made the cutout soon)

You can see the Panda in the background looking over joyed.
I’ll be back soon with more posts since I have alot of catching up to do.

The Renegade Craft Fair in Los Angeles will be here before you know it, so plan accordingly. My nights and weekends are spent sewing away in my one-woman plush factory. Fair season always gets me a bit crazed, but it is well worth it. I can’t wait to see all the vendors at this event! I try to do some early Christmas shopping at these events to show the love for handmade goodies.
Since I’ll be in the L.A. area I will find some time to go to one of my favorite burger places The Counter in Santa Monica. It’s pretty popular and very delicious. Any place that has sweet potato fries and root beer floats is a place I heart!!
Hope to see you guys at the show!
